- Magnus Spence has resigned as chief executive of Dalton Strategic Partnership, the $2bn asset management boutique that he co-founded with Andrew Dalton in 2002. Mr Spence is expected to return to the finance industry in the near future.
- Dan Kiang has joined Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in Hong Kong as director within its relationship investing arm to focus on direct equity investments across Asia. Mr Kiang joins from Mount Kellett Capital, a $7bn private equity company.
- Warburg Pincus, the $39bn global private equity group, has appointed Piero Minardi as a managing director based in Brazil. Mr Minardi was previously a partner at Gávea Investimentos, the $6.7bn Brazilian investment company.
- Céline Dufétel has moved to Neuberger Berman, the $247bn fund house, as head of client service from McKinsey, the consultancy, where she served as leader of the North American asset management practice. Ms Dufétel succeeds Lori Holland who has moved to Neuberger’s multi-asset class team to work with Erik Knutzen.
- Craig Bonthronhas moved to Kames Capital, the £51.9bn Edinburgh-based fund company, as an investment manager from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
- Investec Asset Managementis expanding its operations in Asia with the appointment of Keeran Mane as executive director for institutional sales. Ms Mane was previously at Credit Suisse Asset Management.
- Hermes, the £27.9bn investment company, has appointed Vincent Nobel to lead its real estate debt business. Mr Nobel, who will also manage the Hermes real estate senior debt fund, joins from M&G.
- John Howland-Jackson has joined Nikko Asset Management as vice-chairman of the European arm of the $168bn Japanese fund group. Mr Howland-Jackson, a veteran financier, most recently served as a senior managing director at ING Bank. Ian Lewis has assumed the position of head of global consultant relations for Nikko AM. Mr Lewis, who will be based in Singapore, was previously a partner at Ardevora Asset Management. Also joining Nikko is Charles Allard, who has been appointed head of sales for north Asia. Mr Allard, who will be based in Hong Kong, previously worked at hedge fund company Winton.
- Two hires for the UK institutional team at Franklin Templeton, the $898bn California-based fund house. Clive Paine, formerly head of UK institutional sales at Lyxor, will focus on new business generation, while Steven Gardner has joined as a client relationship manager from TopQ Software.
- Two hires also at Nomura Asset Management. Richard Hodges and Ben Bugg will run a new global dynamic bond fund for Nomura after both moved from Legal & General Investment Management.
- Michael Wahnich has joined NewSmith, the $2.2bn UK fund house, as head of risk from International Asset Management.
